child support and bankruptcy

I am going to claim bankruptcy. Do the child support payments I receive from my ex count as income? and if so, why does it not effect is bankruptcy claim?

If you file for bankruptcy, child support is considered income and is used when determining the cost of bankruptcy and whether you have any surplus income obligation.
