Garnishing Social Assistance Income
April 26th, 2010 by Questions
I lost my job in March 2008 (auto industry lay off). I did not find another job yet, my EI was finish and had to apply for Social Assistance ( my only income presently). I haven`t been able to pay my creditors (3). One of the collection agency (DRM) called me and stated if I did not pay a settlement amount of $1500 by April 30/10, they will take me to court to garnish my wages.
Can they garnish my Social Assistance payments?
