During bankruptcy is room mate income concidered?
March 23rd, 2010 by Questions
I rent a house and have a room mate that pays a portion of the monthly house expsense ( not 50%). Is their income concidered in my surplus income? Are basic living expenses ex: rent, utilities, food etc, concidered in the calculation of the amount of surplus owed monthly?

This can depend on the exact nature of the relationship, but for the most part if you are simply sharing accommodations and pooling expenses then your income and expenses are separate from your room mates. But you should discuss this in greater detail with a local trustee to determine that your situation will permit this.
