Moving in with new boyfriend

I am thinking about going bankrupt. I am also considering moving in with my new boyfriend. If I do move in with him, would his income or assests be taken into consideration….would it make a differance in my payments or could he loose assests because of me?

Unless someone has co-signed or guaranteed your debts, their assets will not be affected if you file an assignment in bankruptcy. Tihs goes for spouses, as well as boyfriends or other persons you may reside with.

However, when you file for bankruptcy, you are required to disclose the total income for the household, as well as the total number of person residing there. So if you move in with your boyfriend you will include him as one of the people living in the hosuehold and you will have to add his income to all the other money cominginto the household in a given month.

This is the sort of thing you should discuss in detail with your trustee BEFORE you file for bankruptcy.
