December 21st, 2009 by Questions
I owe $5,000 in municipal and school taxes for my house. Can I onclude these debts in a bankruptcy or are they `secured?`

Sorry, but municipal and school taxes are automatically “secured” against the real property they were assessed against. If you intend to keep your house then these debts stay with it and must be paid. If you are surrendering your house as part of your bankruptcy then these debts will be dealt with when the hosue house is sold.
