Should I wait?

September 9th, 2008 by Questions

I never thought it would ever come to this, but it looks like I will have to go bankrupt. It is true what you say, that the hardest part of the process is accepting it and taking the first step of seeing a trustee. We have been living on credit for too long now since I became totally disabled a year ago. My question is; now that I have decided I have to do this, I feel like I have to wait another 3 or 4 months with no credit card use showing, before I can show my face to a trustee. Charges have been all gas and groceries for past 3 months.

From the sounds of it you have no need to wait. Some nominal living costs on credit in the few months before bankruptcy is understandable and won’t cause you any difficulties. The only time you really have to worry is if you were purposely changing up the remaining balances on those accounts knowing all the while you were simply going to file a bankruptcy. Otherwise it is not an issue.
