identity theft and bankruptcy

I was a victim of identity theft. I am still trying to get a lot of that sorted out, including a few items on my credit report that are not mine. Due to my own money issues, unrelated to the identity theft, I am considering bankruptcy. How do I deal with the accounts that were fraudulantly opened in my name? Can they be included in the bankruptcy, just to get rid of them, or do I have to deal with that separatly? It just seems like it would be easier to claim those debts, but they are not mine and I don`t know if including them in the bankruptcy will make it appear that they were indeed my debts.

I would suggest you sit down and explain this with a local trustee. From the sounds of it the debts related to the Fraud are insignificant compared to your other debts and it will be simpler to just list them all. Now technically a debt related to fraud isn’t something that can be cleared by a bankrutpcy, but that is if you are the one who perpetrated teh fraud. Which you weren’t, as a result I dont’ think it will even become an issue.
