Excess Income

February 29th, 2008 by Questions

Every two weeks I travel 7 hours by car to visit my children. I have to pay for gas, hotel, entertainment and other expenses which cost around $700/month.

When the calculation is done to determine my excess income and payments do they take into account these expenses?

I doubt it – unless you’ve been Court Ordered to make the trip, the bankruptcy court will likely determine that these trips are voluntary (it’s your choice to go) and therefore not deductible. You can’t deduct them for tax purposes can you?
