Public Domain Information

June 25th, 2007 by Questions

Hi.When somebody declares personal bankruptcy, what details, if any, are in the public domain? Is the *fact* that they have declared bankruptcy available in a database / registry somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Technically the fact that you have gone bankrupt is public information and your right there is a central registry that existis. Any interested party can either in person or online do an Insolvency Name Search for a fee of $8.00.

While this search doesn’t disclose all the details of your file it will provide name, amount of debt, name of trustee, date filed, date discharged, value of assets, type of discharge received and the location of filing.
