Renting a house

Is it possible to rent a house after declaring bankruptcy? Have you had clients that have had problems finding a place to live after declaring?
We are thinking of declaring bankruptcy and giving up our home but I\’m afraid we won\’t be able to find anywhere to live.

It is definatly possible to rent after declaring bankruptcy. While I have seen a few instances where the potential landlord did a credit check, became aware of the bankruptcy and chose not to rent, I find this is the exeption not the rule.
In most instances it is not really a major issue. However, if you are concerned, give up the house, find a place to rent and do so prior to filing the bankruptcy. For more information as to whether my observations are the same as take place in your locallity you may want to contact a trustee in your area.
