Moving to a different country

February 22nd, 2007 by Questions

Question one:
Will a person be able to move out of the country while that person is on bankruptcy estate?

Question two:
Can a person file a bankruptcy here in Canada while in another country. If his work is currently there?

There is no difficulty with filing a bankruptcy and then relocating elsewhere. The only thing I would caution you of, is make sure you discuss this with your licensed trustee at the beginning so that you can develop a plan to complete the necessary counseling prior to moving.

As for filing in Canada if you work elsewhere, this is sometimes possible, but it is best to contact a licensed trustee in the Canadian city you most recently lived.
