First time discharge

Hello, I have claimed a bankruptcy 1 year ago but I haven’t been discharged yet. I claimed my bankruptcy in Quebec. This is my first time bankruptcy and I know that the first time when you claim it, you will get an automatical discharge. This is what I also was told when I went for a consultation with my trustee before I claimed my bankruptcy. However, now,my trustee said that I would have to go to a court. Does it make any sense? Thank you.

To be eligible there are a number of duties that need to be complied with. Therefore, I can only assume that there are certain of these obligations that are still incomplete. As a result the best thing for you to do is too contact your trustee and with his help determine what obligations are still outstanding. Once these are completed you will then be eligible for discharge.
