How many times can you file a Consumer Proposal?

May 23rd, 2006 by Questions

My husband and I had a consumer proposal in 1998 (he had to close down his business)…we were able to pay this off in half the time granted to us. Now, he is working on commission only and we are again in a situation where we will have to have another consumer proposal. Are we allowed to be granted more than one C.P.? I have had the same permanent job for 20 years but I just can’t pay all our debts every month on my salary. We are stressed to the limit.

The only stipulation is that if you default on a consumer proposal you are not eligible to file another proposal on the same debts. So from the sounds of it you should have no difficulty and would contacting a licensed trustee in your area.
