court costs
March 10th, 2006 by Questions
Several collection agencies are threatening to take me to court .I understand that the court costs and the extra costs they incur to collect is added to my debt. Are we talking a few bucks added on or is it a significant amount ? If they knew there was no way to collect .Would they still take legal action? Do collection agencies consider this when they make their decisions? Maybe the costs are minimal or maybe the creditor’s policy is to sue everyone .

Sometimes the collection agencies consider this, sometime they simply send it to collection as a matter of course and once the judgment is obtained it sits unsatisfied in hopes that your situation will change. As for the costs, this can vary significantly based on the legal council obtained, the penalties in the original contract and the amount of effort the lawyer puts into collection prior to the judgment being obtained.
