Student Loan and Bankruptcy
January 26th, 2006 by Questions
I had a OSAP loan and finished college in June 1990. I declared personal bankruptcy in 1995. I was released from my canada student loan, but osap is still hounding me 11 yrs later. The trustee says that she put out a notice to osap in 1995, but because the collection agency did not respond back, she did not include osap in my list of debtors. They have now put a lean on my income tax! I called the place in thunder bay to have this cleared but they said it may not be! How can I get this fixed? I need help!

It sounds as if all you need to do is provide a copy of your original bankruptcy documents, including your statement of affairs and discharge certificate, to the collection agent. On the Statement of Affairs they should have listed OSAP. As this document is done up from your records and is not dependant on them responding to the trustee you should not have any concern.
