If the court awards a judgement to the creditor, this judgement is enforceable for 10 years and it can be renewed if not satisfied in full and interest is calculated from the
date of the judgement on. While a judgement issued in an Alberta court can only be enforced in Alberta, a creditor may transfer the judgement to other provinces. So even if you move to another province, a creditor could pursue you to collect a judgement debt. Furthermore, a judgement appears on your credit record. Even after you pay the debt, the judgement record will remain on your credit record for a maximum of 6 years.
