Questions about garnishment of wagees

September 30th, 2009 by Questions

I have a couple of questions.

1. How much is the maximum amount that can be garnished from your wages for a foreclosure on a home. We could not afford our home and foreclosed. Now the bank is saying they have loses and that we owe them.

2. If you are on disability can it be garnished for the above scenario.

Thanks for any help with this.

There is a calculate that is based on provincial legislation and varies depending on the amount of income you have coming in and the number of dependents in the household.

As for the disability income, typically this cannot be garnished from source, but if the money is put into a bank account there is risk that any money in the bank account could be seized and this is normally independent of where the money came from.
