bankruptcy after divorce

I am going through a divorce,my wife is going for half of my pension which my lawyer says is $70,000 and support payments of between 1500&2200 per month.no way I can pay that amount Can I file for bankruptcy.

You can, but it won’t help with either of these issues. Pensions are excluded from bankruptcy proceedings so your spouse can still try and attach to half of it as part of the divorce. Child and spousal support are also excluded from bankruptcy – only the Family Court may change a support order. Sorry, but bankruptcy is not the solution to these particular problems…
