The best thing to do is to contact a local trustee. They will be able to determine if the best way to settle your debts is through a consumer proposal or if you are better suited to one done through a credit counselling service. If the credit counselling service one is the better route they will advise you as to the reputable ones to you. YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN TALKING WITH A CREDIT COUNSELLOR as many of the people out their claiming to be credit counsellors are not reputable. However the trustee you meet with will be able to help direct you to one who is reputable.
