The simplest form of rebuilding credit is to start getting a positive reporting. To do that, you must first of all use credit regularly (even if it’s just once/month) and second, ensure that’s paid on time every single month. I can’t stress enough how important it is to make payments by the due dates. It’s also very important to not carry too much debt, if any at all! Additionally, information like your employment, income and residence will all be taken into consideration. The higher and more secure your income and employment and the more consistent your residence, the better you’ll appear to potential credit grantors. I commonly recommend to debtors that we work with, to contact their local bank branch and setup a meeting with a loans officer to discuss their credit goals. In this meeting, you can let them know where you’d like to be in several years (whether it be obtaining a car loan, a mortgage or simply improving your credit) and asking them what they might recommend. The reason I think this is a good idea, is because it’s those individuals in your bank that see the result of various individuals credit applications and their respective results. Good luck!
