If a person declares bankruptcy and has zero balance on an unsecured credit card can they keep that credit card?

The short answer is “no” – you are required to surrender all of your credit cards when you file for bankruptcy or a consumer proposal.

The long answer is maybe, IF you get the credit card company to confirm/affirm that they will allow you to keep the card. That means you need a letter from the credit card company stating that they will allow you to keep the card once you file. You can imagine how often that happens…
