The filing of a consumer proposal really doesn’t have much impact on your common law partner. The consumer proposal will deal with your debts. The only real exception to this is if you and your common law have jointly signed on the debts together. If this is the case the proposal would remove you from being responsible and leave your common law fully responsible for any debt he had signed on.
