I filed a consumer proposal back in june 2000 and i have a certificate of full performance of proposal. was filed with the official receiver on the 29th day of june 2000 has been fully performed as of the 15th day of july,2005. dated at toronto,ontario.this 22th day of july,2005.
FINANCIAL DEBT RECOVERY LIMITED has send letters saying i owe 25,000 and keeps calling and threating us. i have told them that i had a consumer proposal and sent them a copy of the certificate of full performance but they just send me a letter saying will accept $14,528.37. could you please help me and let me know how to stop them from threating me.

Option 1 – sedn them a registered letter (or by courier with proof of delivery) demanding that they cease their collection activity and proceed to take you to Court. Likely they will go away, but if they don’t 9and they don’t take you to Court) you can then lodge a complaint with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs – that may get their licence pulled.
Option 2 – hire a lawyer yourself and have them deal with this right away.
Financial Debt Recovery knows you have no obligation to pay, they’re just hoping you will pay them something to make them “go away”.
