Do you have to surrender an american express card even if its one that is mandatory to pay balance in full every 30 days, carry no balance and have an excellent rating.

There aren’t that many Amex “charge cards” still floating around. If the card has no credit facility (ie you cannot carry a balance) then you may be able to keep it, but your trustee will likely require proof that you have told Amex that you filed either bankruptcy and a proposal – that way they get to decidce whether or not they want to let you keep the card. Prrof usually takes the form of a letter or e-mail confirming that you’ve told them you have filed and they consent to your keeping the card.
