It depends on the agreement you signed with your trustee. Most trustees don’t charge any “upfront fees”, rather they are paid as you make your payments into the proposal. So if you’ve already made a couple of payments those will likley be lost, but unless you’ve done something inappropriate that you failed to disclose to your trustee, most trustee’s won’t pursue you for any additional payments.
Just so you know, the law says a trustee is entitled to $750 plus the filing fee, plus any counseling fees if you have completed counselling, plus HST (of course). A further $750 is allowed once a proposal has been accepted – in your case that does not apply.
