Consumer Proposal government filing fee
October 21st, 2009 by Questions
I am going to have a licensed trustee file a consumer proposal. In order to do so, they said they need a$100 deposit from me and the same from my wife for registation. Is this legit and, if so, does it go towards my proposal or does the trustee just pocket this for their time.

The government filing fee is $100 so all the trustee is doinjg is asking you to pay tthe filing fee upfront, rather than them paying it and taking out of your payments later. Quite legal and not uncommon in some parts of the country.
