keeping my spouse off of my consumer proposal

August 9th, 2009 by Questions

i am thinking about consumer proosal for myself. I have credit cards in my name only and I am also a joint subcriber on some of my husbands. Can I declare a consumer proposal on my own and not affect my husbands credit.

When filing a consumer proposal you legally will have to list any debt that you are listed on, this would include any debts you are listed jointly on.

Now this shouldn’t have any impact on your husbands credit as long as he is able to make payment arrangements with any of the debts he is listed on.
