Hi my husband is thinking about filing a consumer proposal, do we both have to file if we have joint debt.

This will depend on your situation and the breakdown of your debt. To be eligible to file a joint consumer proposal you must have the majority of your debt in both names and it must not be detrimental to the rights of your creditors.

So to determine this you are best to contact a local trustee .
