Am I able to claim bankruptcy while on social assistance in British Columbia, and if so what would the steps necessary be to do so?

You are certainly able to file for a bankruptcy while on social assistance. To get more information on that and the first step in the process is to sit down with a local trustee. These meetings are typically free and are simply to give you information about the process and what to expect when filing a bankruptcy.
