My common-law wife did not work and had full access to our joint bank account and line of credit. I was the only one contributing money–she handled the finances. She left the relationship in the middle of the night and stole over $190,000 from the account and line of credit. I sued, won, and she was ordered to pay me back. She hid and spent the money, then declared bankruptcy. Should this have been allowed?
