When does a bankruptcy start? The day you sign papers with a trustee or the day its registered with the superintendent of bankruptcy?

In most cases, those are the same day (in our firm, it’s usually the same hour – once you sign the forms they are uploaded via the internet to the Superintendent). When the Superintendent receives the documents they are time and date stamped – that is the offical time your bankruptcy starts.
