Do you have to be a legal Canadian citizen in order to file bankruptcy?

There is no requirement that you be a Canadian Citizen. The law states you must owe greater than $1000.00, and resided in Canada within the last 12 months, or own property in Canada. But nothing states you need to be a citizen.
