used credit card for essentials before filing for bankruptcy

March 29th, 2010 by Questions

I used my only credit card with any credit on it for essentials(cleaning things household items, like light bulbs and fuses but did buy a couple of non essential things, for my personal use) . Things I haven`t gotten for months as I have been trying to pay credit cards down. What happens if I have to file for bankruptcy in the next three months? Will they say It is fraud?I have gotten a deferred payment plan I am hoping to be able to pay off before it is due and am still trying to keep up my payments on the others.

While it is never a good idea to use credit on the eve of bankruptcy, when you have used the credit for mostly essential things, then you really don’t have much to worry about.

It is when you have made large unusual purchases on credit that you have to be concerned. So from this point on, simply try to avoid using those accounts wherever possible and it doesn’t sound like you will have to worry.
