My wife and I collectivley owe $65,000 in personal tax and another $8000 to gst. (Credit cards etc…$10,000.) Is our type of debit bankruptcy applicable?

All of these are debts that are typically released by filing a bankruptcy or a proposal as long as you have conducted yourself in a reasonable and honest manner (i.e. haven’t misrepresented yourself, committed fraud, made exxcessive purchases on credit on the eve of filing for bankruptcy etc.).
However, to confirm this you would be best to have a local trustee review your debts in a little more detail, but I anticipate you won’t have any difficulties .
