This is a difficult issue that you must discuss with a local trustee local trustee. What happens is that some provinces have legislation that provides for dower rights, meaning that if you live in the house and your income is used to contributed to the benefit of the household, then you may have an interest in the property. If you live in an area where dower rights are provided for your filing of a bankruptcy could potentially affect the house.
