If you live in British Columbia, can you file for bankruptcy in Nova Scotia. If you can, what benefits would this mean?

Only if yiou want to fly back to Nova Scotia to file the assignment and to attend any meetings your trustee requires.

I suggest you call a trustee in BC and discuss your concerns – I suspect you will decide it makes more sense to file in BC where you live (and avoid the cost of travelling back and forth 3 or 4 times).
