January 27th, 2007 by Questions

My sister is looking at claiming personal bankruptcy and whats know the following:

Besides having 2 jobs she has a business that she is running on the side. When you meet with a trustee does this business need to be mentioned? Would this need to be shut down?

Yes, it is very important for the business to be mentioned as it will have a substantial difference on what is required of your sister to successfully complete the bankruptcy. The business won’t necessarily need to be shut down, but how it is operated will need to be discussed and there may be some ramifications on the operational controls that are currently in place.
