Bankruptcy While Living in the US

June 21st, 2006 by Questions

My question is this: I currently reside in the United States; however I am a Canadian Citizen. I have a bank loan here in Canada; but was recently laid off work. I have established a good credit rating in the US; however find myself unable to pay on my loan in Canada. If I declare bankruptcy in Canada, how will this affect my credit, if at all, in the US? Thank you.

There really shouldn’t be any overlap, but you may want to contact Equifax to confirm this. As our economy becomes more and more globalized you may find that this changes over the next 5 to 10 years.
