Credit Card Query

September 28th, 2005 by Questions

I see you have a couple of unsecured credit card questions up – but I have another one!

I went back to one of my old banks when I declared bankruptcy, and my statements kept including that they owed me -$1.45 on an old Visa. I definitely turned in all credit cards I had at bankruptcy.

I finished my period of bankruptcy and received a partial discharge where I make payments for an additional 12 months due to excess family income. I did call my bank to enquire about the credit card, and they sent me a new one that is unsecured as they owed me money on the account that had not been active in 6 years – it was an old student one I cut up at that time.

Am I able to use it or will I get into some kind of trouble for this situation? Seems to me if the bank sent it to me I should be able to use it and start rebuilding my credit….

To be safe, I would not use it until you are fully discharged from bankruptcy.
