Notice of Assessment
April 9th, 2013 by Questions
My trustee filed my pre & post income tax returns. I have asked for a copy of the Notice of Assessment and was told that they don’t normally give out the Notice of Assessments for the returns, because they (the trustee) filed the tax returns and they (Notice of Assessment) are part of their records. Why can’t I get a copy of my Notice of Assessment for my tax return?

In my opinion, your trustee has no right to withhold that information. (There’s also no reason). You may need your Notice of Assessments at some future time. Ask again in writing and if they refuse contact the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and ask for their assistance.
