Trouble after bankruptcy – bank unethical ?
January 25th, 2013 by Questions
Hi,
I have been discharged from bankruptcy. I had RRSP when bankrupt which under my understanding was protected in event of a bankruptcy – my trustee has said to bank they have no interest in the funds and to release them to me. A withdrawal was made by bank but not by me when I attempted to transfer funds to my new bank. What to do ? I feel the bank has done something underhanded and I have been trying since summer to straigthen this out ? Not sure how to approach this. Trustee after my discharge – hard to get them to assist even to get letter I needed. Need help or an advocate to find out what really has happened here. I am extremely stressed over this…

Unfortunately, you probably require a lawyer to assist you. If you’ve been discharged and the trustee had no interest in the asset (RRSP) then ther won’t be anything that the trustee can do for you now. It is a problem with the bank… good luck. If you cannot afford a lawyer you might try the the provincial ombudsman that haldes bank complaints – I am sorry, but I don’t know what they are called in Nova Scotia.
