Court date

June 28th, 2011 by Questions

I got oppose letter from one of my creditors before 9 month over. It’s been 10 months that I have not heard about the court date!
How long should I wait to hear the court date?
My life is on hold! Is there anything someone can do for me? What is the role of my trustee here?
Thanks
Kush

The Ontaro Courts, particularly in the GTA, are quite backed up right now due to all of the bankurptcy filings in 2009 and 2010. It is not uncommon to wait more than a year if your hearing is in Toronto. At the end of the initial 9 month period your trustee will have sent in a request for the hearing – now it is simply a matter of waiting your turmn (as frustrating as that may sound). You have the right to call the Court house yourself and ask – just don’t call so often that you become a pest as you wuldn’t want your file to get “lost”…
