inheritance

I am curious….if the person died prior to the beneficiary filing bankruptcy, and the inheritance is not received until after this person is discharged from bankruptcy, do they get to keep their inheritance?

, A licensed trustee said:

No. They should have advised their trustee when they filed for bankruptcy about the possible inheritance – if they had, their truste would have contacted the Executor of the Will and put them on notice to forward any inheritance to the trustee for the benefit of the persons creditors.

The critical event is the filing of bankruptcy – not the actual payment of funds. Unfortunately, the inheritance belongs to thie person’s creditors…
