Can employers find out if you`ve claimed bankruptcy?

Can employers find out if you have claimed bankruptcy? What about when applying for government jobs, would they know an applicant has gone through or has been bankrupt before?

If you file a bankruptcy, as long as you cooperate with your Trustee there really is only one circumstance where your employer has to find out. This is if you are subject to a wage garnishment. The only reason the employer would be contacted is to get the garnishment stopped.
