Child Tax Benefits
April 16th, 2009 by Questions
Hi there,
I`ve filed bankruptcy on Sep/08 and waiting to be discharged.
I had a little bit issue with CRA regarding to CTB. I think I may owe them some money when they prorate back Oct.07. My question is: Can I include this amount into my bankrupt file, which is in the process right now? Please advice. Thanks

In terms of taxes, you can only be cleared of taxes owing up to and including the date of your bankruptcy. There is no way to carry amounts owing after that date backwards. So if these taxes relate to a period after you filed, then you are responsible.
