Collection Letters

March 3rd, 2009 by Questions

I currently owe approx. over $15000 to credit card companies; personal loan. I am currently laid-off and getting letters saying my account is going to collections with the credit card companies. I don`t know what to do. The companies will not accept what i said that i can definitely do every 2 weeks. I am thinking of just filing for personal bankruptcy. This is stressing me out.
Any suggestions

You have the right to file for bankruptcy, but I suggest you speak to a credit counsellor or a trustee first to review what othr options you may have. Until you return to work there is very little that these collection agencies can do to you (except harass you) – after speaking to a professional you may decide to put things off until you find work… maybe you won’t have to file for bankruptcy at all.
