Discharge papers

December 17th, 2008 by Questions

I was just wondering, HOW long after I have been discharged from personal bankruptcy will I get my discharge papers to officially state that I am discharge ?
I should be discharge – Feb 15, 2009
1) When should I get my discharge papers.. days / weeks after this date ?
2) Where do the discharge papers come from… the trustee or the Superindentant of Bankruptcies… ?

The timing depends on the trustee you are delaing with – unless you are required to go to Court, your trustee will sign and issue your Certificate of Discharge.

Our practice is to prepare and release these Certificates in the 2 weeks immediately following the discharge date, but it’s only our policy – you need to speak to your own trustee and ask them how they handle this.
