Inheritance
December 27th, 2007 by Questions
I just filed for bankruptcy after trying for a proposal but one of the creditors denided it. I recently found out I may receive a couple of thousand dollars from my grandmother, who has since passed away,do I have to let my trustee know about this? Do I have to accept the inheritance or can I wait to cash the check till after I`m discharged?

You need to immediately notify your trustee as this is considered after acquired propoerty and legally has to be turned over to your trustee.
Failure to do so would be considered a bankruptcy offence and will result in you being ineligible for discharge and likely create significant difficulties for yourselves in the future.
