My common law spouse did a consumer proposal, but we were not able to do it. My common law had a bankruptcy in 1996 in which he was not discharged. The trustee that did his bankruptcy will not help him and told us to contact a lawyer. We are in dire straits as the bank is threatening to put a lien on our house. I will be doing a bankruptcy myself, but because the debts are co-signed by him they will still go after him.
Do you know how long it would take to have the original bankruptcy discharged or do we have another option.
