One Response to “stop calling”

Once you’ve filed bankruptcy or a proposal the calls should stop within 7 to 10 days. The fastest way to get them to stop is to actually answer the phone and give the callers the name and phone number for your trustee. Likely the paperwork simply hasn’t made it to the right people yet.

If after you tell a company to call your trustee they call you again ask them for their file number and a phone number you can use to call them. Then call your trustee and give them the reference and phone numbers so they can follow-up on your behalf.

If you don’t answer the calls then they will probably keep calling – most collection companies use computerized dialers that will just keep calling you until they get an answer…
